Quick-thinking UPS Driver Saved 4-Year-Old Boy Trapped Under 97-Lb. Package [Video]

• A 4-year-old boy has gotten used to bringing in packages from their front porch when a heavy one tumbled on him one day.
• The UPS driver saw the box tilt and rushed back to get the heavy package off of the boy.
• Max Pratt is unharmed and UPS driver Marco Angel is hailed a hero.

Max Pratt frequently brings in delivered packages in their home in Ridgeland Avenue, Illinois.  But on this day, the package proved too heavy for Max.

Their doorbell security camera showed that as Max moved the box, the package tumbled down on him and pinned him underneath it.  The package containing a hammock weighed 97-lbs and Max is only 40 lbs.

Max recalled, “I was scared I was going to fall down the stairs.”  As he struggled to free himself from the heavyweight, he shouted for “Help!”

Fortunately, UPS driver, Marco Angel heard his cries for help from across the street and immediately rushed to help him.

Angel said, “As soon as I saw the package tilt, I just started running back to it.”

As a father of two boys, he pictured them in that situation and his full parent or full dad mode kicked in and made sure that the kid was all right.

Thankfully, Max was unharmed from the incident and is now relaxing on the hammock that fell on him.

Things would have ended up differently had Angel did not immediately run back for Max.

According to Max’s dad, “He didn’t think twice. He didn’t even look for traffic. He came sprinting. It was pretty cool.”

A spokesperson for the UPS says: “We’re all truly grateful that Max was not injured and are proud of driver Marco Angel for his quick actions and concern for others.”

Max’s parents have now talked to him and warned him about not opening the front door without adults around. 

Through a zoom call, the Pratt family has already thanked Angel for his quick action.

Max’s mom said to the now hero driver: “You are our angel, the way you flew in and helped him.”

And Angel can only reply: “I’m just happy that I was able to get that box off him because the box did weigh. I [was] just hoping the little boy is all right. That’s all I want.”
