Senior dog fulfills role as ‘Best Pup’ in parents’ wedding

• Rocky has been there throughout Sophia and Josh’s relationship, so he had to have a special role in their wedding.
• He was given the important roles of ring bearer and “best pup,” and he did his absolute best!
• He took his roles seriously, but he also made sure to show everyone his signature “blep.”

Sophia Coleman met Rocky during her first date with her now-husband, Josh. She instantly grew fond of the tiny pup, and eventually fell in love with his owner. Rocky was there from the beginning and throughout the couple’s relationship, so he just had to be the “Best Pup” at their wedding.

“Rocky has always been there to remind us what true love is, so there was no question that he had to be a part of the wedding,” Sophia shared.

On the big day, Rocky had two important roles: ring bearer and “best pup.”

Rocky looked dapper with his little suit and tie! His permanent “blep,” which was caused by some missing teeth, somehow made him look even more perfect.

At 13 years old, Rocky can be grumpy, but he is still quite “spunky,” so the couple thought it would be easy for him to walk down the aisle as the ring bearer. He did great at the rehearsal, after all, although that was done with no guests in attendance.

On their special day, the couple had to give him lots of treats and do some coaxing before Rocky managed to walk down the aisle in front of 80 wedding guests.

Sophia shared, “During the actual ceremony, he was a little distracted by the guests! I think he was hoping each person would give him treats.”

Rocky managed to make it and tried his best to stand quietly by his parents’ side.

“Everyone loved seeing him in his cute little suit. When he was coming down the aisle, there was a lot of joyful laughter,” Sophia shared. “He really was the star of the show!”

After the ceremony, Rocky’s parents figured he was tired after his responsibilities. They were also worried that someone might trip over him during the reception. So, they retired him to the bridal suite, which was in the same building as the reception venue.

But he was too excited, and didn’t like being kept out of the loop!

“At one point, he did burst through the baby gate and made an escape when someone opened the bridal suite door,” Sophia recounted. “He immediately found my husband and I — he wanted to be by our sides the whole night!”

Rocky certainly did his job well, and his parents are more than happy to have him included in their special day.
