Nina Bakhshizadeh traveled to Mexico to celebrate her birthday. It should have been the trip of a lifetime, but things quickly turned into a nightmare.

During an ATV excursion, Nina took a horrific fall off a bridge and nearly lost her life. She shared the scary details in a heartfelt post.

“I underwent emergency spine surgery 28 hours after the accident. It was the most painful and terrifying experience of my life, but thankfully the doctors were able to save my lower back, and I can move my legs now. With proper treatment, physical therapy, and aftercare, I hope to walk normally again,” she explained.

Loved Ones Quickly Came Together to Help Nina Bakhshizadeh

Nina explained she didn’t have travel insurance and that the park’s insurance did not cover the cost of surgery. Her family and friends helped immediately with funding the life-saving surgery.

In just a few days, she raised more than $50,000.

She has a long road to recovery ahead of her, but with the love and prayers from around the world, Nina feels confident she will walk again.

“I am incredibly grateful to be alive and forever thankful to every person who helped me survive during those terrifying moments. Unfortunately, my recovery is far from over. I still have untreated fractures in my neck, ongoing medical expenses, physical therapy, follow-up appointments, medications, and a long healing journey ahead. At this time, I am unable to walk normally or return to work. I have never been comfortable asking for help, but after everything that has happened, I truly cannot get through this alone im stuck in Mexico hoping to feel better enough to get on a plane.”
