  • Valia Orfanidou, who rescues and fosters stray dogs in Greece, came across one when she was driving.
  • The tiny pup chased after her and refused to give up!
  • So, she stopped her car, took him in, and made sure he received the proper care in a loving foster home.

A stray puppy chased down a passing car to make sure he was rescued.

The small, black and white puppy had jumped out of the bushes along a country road in rural Greece to chase after Valia Orfanidou’s car.

As she watched the puppy in her rearview mirror, she realized that the poor pup won’t give up chasing her.

Valia told The Dodo, “My thoughts were, ‘Oh no, another one.’ Greece has about 3 to 5 million stray dogs. The streets here are like an open-admission shelter — anyone who doesn’t want their dog anymore dumps him on the streets, there is no other option.”

Valia, who helps rescue and foster dogs in the country, writes about this situation in her blog, The Orphan Pet. So, she decided to stop for the small shepherd mix and tried to coax him into her car.

The poor pup hid under the wheels of her car the moment she stopped. Valia said that he hid whenever she approached and would come out when she moved away. The pup also kept barking as if he was saying something.

She eventually managed to get a hold of him. The once anxious pup started wagging his tail happily once she placed him in the backseat!

Valia then brought him to a vet to get him checked up. Thankfully, the pup was healthy despite living on the streets.

She then took him to a foster home in Athens where he now receives the proper care and love he needs.

Valia described the pup, now named Bandit, as “independent and strong-minded,” but also “very loyal and lives to learn.”

Bandit has since gotten to experience soft, comfy beds, kind humans, full food bowls, and long walks.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before he finds a new forever family who can give him all this and more.

If you or anyone you know is interested in adopting Bandit, you can email the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society here. You can also donate to them to help other Greek street dogs find new forever homes.
