Unstoppable ‘Do Good Fest’ Raises $1.5 Million in Wake of Historic Flooding

When historic flooding ravaged Vermont, the National Life Insurance Company—anchored in Montpelier, Vermont for 175 years—swiftly shifted its annual benefit concert, the ‘Do Good Fest’, to adapt to the challenging circumstances.

Undeterred by the disaster, they converted the traditionally outdoor concert into an indoor acoustic performance, live-streamed globally, to rally support for the Vermont community.

Against the backdrop of devastation, the fundraising concert exceeded all expectations, with contributions pouring in from generous individuals and groups.

National Life initially promised to match donations up to $500,000. However, as the donated funds surged, the company raised their match limit, resulting in a total contribution of $1.5 million.

National Life’s CEO, Mehran Assadi, announced during the July 15 event that their collective efforts would significantly boost the VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023.

This initiative, run by the Vermont Community Foundation, has seen more than $2.5 million in gifts or commitments within its first week alone. National Life’s substantial donation marks the largest single contribution so far.

The first $500,000 of National Life’s matched funds has already been dispatched to local relief agencies. Despite these impressive figures, donations are still being welcomed as the community works tirelessly to restore and rebuild.
