  • A Yorkshire terrier named Rolo has charmed millions with its unique “parallel park” move.
  • Rolo’s antics have sparked a delightful conversation among fellow Yorkie owners on TikTok.
  • Experts emphasize that puppies learn through positive reinforcement and repeat behaviors that get them what they want.

A delightful video of an ingenious Yorkshire terrier puppy has taken TikTok by storm, gathering over 1.5 million views. The clip, shared by user @vedranaweahomes, features a tiny dog named Rolo performing a quirky “parallel park” maneuver to signal its desire to be picked up.

The video humorously poses the question: “Does anyone else’s dog parallel park when they want to be picked up?”

As the camera focuses on Rolo, a voice prompts, “Ready? Come on,” and the puppy swiftly aligns itself, much like a miniature car parking perfectly.

The motivation behind Rolo’s unique tactic remains a mystery.

However, as noted by veterinarians Debra Horwitz and Gary Landsberg, along with licensed veterinary technician Monique Feyrecilde, “puppies, like all animals, learn by doing what works for them.”

They further explain, “Puppies will repeat behaviors that have a good result. If it leads to a treat, attention, a toy, a desired interaction, the ability to explore, sniff, or run, the puppy will do it again in the future.”

Interactions with puppies serve as a form of training from the moment they come home.

“Housetraining, household manners, and social experiences are all forms of training you’ll be doing with your puppy from the first time they come home,” the experts noted.

They emphasize that positive reinforcement is the most “effective and safe” method for training puppies.

“Waiting until the puppy does something you don’t want and then trying to punish the behavior can lead to problems such as avoidance, fear and confusion,” the experts warned.

Rolo’s antics have resonated with other Yorkie owners on TikTok, sparking a delightful conversation.
