6th-Grader with Cerebral Palsy Scores Touchdown with the Help of Classmates [Video]

• Sixth-grader Kale Hannahs needs a wheelchair to move around because of cerebral palsy.
• Because of this, he can only watch his classmates play football during recess.
• But one day, his classmates wanted to include him, so they passed him the ball and helped him score a touchdown!

Kale Hannahs, a sixth-grader with cerebral palsy, has always felt content watching his Detroit Lakes Middle School classmates playing football during recess, so he never imagined scoring a touchdown.

“You know cerebral palsy? It’s the thing where you aren’t able to walk,” Kale told Valley News Live. “That’s the reason I’m here. I can’t really walk like everyone else.”

But one day, his classmates made sure to include him in their game.

Middle school teacher Katie Biggar shared, “I turned around and saw it out of the corner of my eye.”

The kids teamed up to give Kale the ball and protect him while he went for the touchdown!

A smiling Kale said, “I was the quarterback. I was the one running. They gave me the ball and tried to block the other team so I wouldn’t get hit.”

His teammates cleared the way for him while blocking the other team’s offense. With such an amazing defense, a beaming Kale made it to the end zone and scored the touchdown.

Teacher Katie just had to take a video of the heartwarming scene and share it online.

She said, “Talk about a game changer. I’m really proud to call them my students and to see how it made others smile, too.”

Kale may have been the one to score the touchdown, but it was being part of the team that mattered to him the most.

He shared, “They all high-fived me and I was like, ‘Yes, we did it!’”

Such amazing teamwork! Simple acts such as these really make the world better.
