British Adults Trust Elders’ Wisdom Over AI Chatbots

A recent poll of 2,000 adults across the United Kingdom found that more than seven in 10 believe artificial intelligence will never replace the advice of their elders.

While 21 percent say they turn to AI chatbots several times a week, 92 percent still feel that certain kinds of wisdom come only from lived experience.

“Some things you can only learn by going through them yourself,” said one respondent in the survey.

The findings highlight a strong cultural respect for the guidance passed down by older generations.

Respondents said that conversations with grandparents and senior family members often bring comfort, clarity, and humor that technology cannot replicate.

“My nan always knows exactly what to say,” shared another participant.

Even among those who frequently use AI, most agree that the irreplaceable value of human stories, mistakes, and triumphs keeps elders at the heart of family decision-making.

“No app can give you a hug after tough news,” another person noted.
