Sheriff Lee Foster expressed gratitude online, applauding the bravery and community spirit of those involved in the rescue.

“Thank you Warren Gallman and friends for capturing the huge snake that had been spotted near the Mid Carolina campuses … Warren you and your friends are brave people and great Americans,” Foster wrote.

Wildlife experts identified the snake as an Albino Burmese python, a species typically kept as an exotic pet and not native to the area. Sheriff Foster noted that the python had likely been released after it became too large or costly for its former owner to care for.
