Bride Asks Organ Donor’s Dad To Walk Her Down The Aisle

• After Heather Donnelly passed away due to a car accident, her donated organs saved countless of lives.

• Upon learning that the late Heather was about to get married too, Diana invited Heather’s dad to be part of her big day.

Diana Donnarumma Kreher was planning to get married. She almost didn’t make it to her happily ever after due to organ failure and an uncertain position on the transplant waiting list. But thanks to an organ donor’s generosity, she and countless others were saved.

Heather Donnelly, who passed away due to a car accident, was the donor for the small and large intestines that Diana desperately needed.

A grateful Diana said that she tries to live her life every day in honor of the “amazing person” who saved her life.

She also reached out to Heather’s dad, Daniel Donnelly, to thank him personally. It was during this conversation that she found out more about Heather. It turns out that Heather was only a year older than Diana, and was also about to be married.

Diana was heartbroken that Daniel was robbed of the chance to walk his daughter down the aisle. So she offered him that very special role for her big day.

Daniel agreed.

And on Diana’s big day, she made sure to include Heather’s photos to show everyone that she’s there in spirit.

Daniel walked Diana down the aisle. The blushing bride was all smiles until the time came for Daniel to hand her over to her own dad. She can’t help but tear up when the two dads exchanged a warm embrace. We doubt that there was a dry eye in there!

It was a beautiful ceremony and reception — a wonderful way to honor Heather and include her dad on a very special day.

Daniel said, “I had a great time at the wedding. It was a blast. I was watching Diana at the dance floor, dancing it up. And picturing my daughter out there doing the same thing.”

Daniel told the newlyweds, “You guys are as loving as my daughter was — she’d be very proud of you two. And I wish you the best of luck. I know she’s looking down right now, she’s very happy. Diana is a sweet girl, she’s got a heart of gold, calls me dad. She says, ‘I’ve got two dads now.’ I was very honored.”

Heather’s selflessness saved Diana’s life. If Heather could see Diana’s big day, she would have been so happy and grateful for how everything turned out.
