  • YouTube search for lullabies to help her daughter to sleep ends up with Bristol MAN Chorus cover of “Rolling Down to Old Maui.”
  • Little girl loves the song so much and sleeps listening to the song almost nightly.
  • Dad pens a letter to the choir and receives a recorded video of a lullaby specially written for his daughter.

Due to a series of bad dreams, 5-year-old Roslyn Kane has been having problems sleeping. Until her dad Rick turned to YouTube for tunes that would comfort her.

Eager to find ways to make her daughter get some needed sleep, Rick chanced upon the Bristol MAN Chorus’ cover of “Rolling Down to Old Maui.” Roslyn liked the choir’s version so much that she even wants to listen to it almost every bedtime.

To thank the choir for the calming effect that they have on Roslyn, Rick decided to send them a message and let them know that Roslyn adores them so much.  What he got was a mind-blowing response.

Not only did the Bristol MAN Chorus appreciate Roslyn’s love, but they also wrote a special song for her and recorded it!

Armed with a stuffed animal (or two), the choir members sang “Roslyn’s Lullaby” virtually to the delight of their tiniest and youngest fan.

And they did not stop at the customized lullaby but added a few moments for Evelyn, Roslyn’s sister.

Sam Burns, Bristol MAN Chorus’ music director says, “It’s a big responsibility, honestly, and a great honor. The fact that we can’t do the choirs anymore… being contacted by [the Kanes], having this whole thing, was really quite uplifting for us.”

And the uplifting of spirits is mutual as Roslyn and her dad are elated and moved by the personalized lullaby.  They now call the choir their “guardian angels in Great Britain.”

Sam added, “The journey was at the service of our lady, Miss Roslyn.”

What started as a way to calm herself to sleep has turned into a mutual admiration club and one that little Roslyn will treasure forever. Who else has a lullaby made for her?
