Bus Drivers Returned 2-Yr-Old To His Parents After Carjackers Left Him On The Road [Video]

  • Kelloggsville Public Schools has recognized the heroism of two of their bus drivers — Dave Skinner and Sue Figueroa.
  • The two were instrumental in bringing back a carjacked 2-year-old back to his parents.
  • Dave called 911 and alerted all drivers on his CB when the child’s parents flagged his bus down while Sue went back to pick up the child that she saw sitting by the side of a road.

For Dave Skinner, it was a routine day on the job as driver for Kelloggsville Public Schools.  But two frantic parents flagged his bus down and screamed that their car was stolen and their baby was still in the car!

Dave quickly called 911 for help and alerted all the bus drivers in the area on his CB radio.

Upon hearing the announcement, another bus driver, Sue Figueroa, remembered that she saw a toddler by the side of the road.  The sight of a toddler sitting alone is unusual and so she turned her bus around to the site a few blocks back.  Fortunately, the child was still there and she stopped the bus, went down and got him safely to the bus.

Sue told the child that she was getting him home.

What followed was a reunion filled with gratitude and emotion.  And even if their car is still to be found, the child was safely back in his parents’ arms.

Dave said, “Cars are replaceable, but I’m glad their child’s home.”

For their quick heroic actions, Dave, Sue and supervisor Kristin Nickelson were recognized by Kelloggsville Board of Education and by Nate Engle, the West Michigan Regional Liaison of the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

One thing is sure, Dave and Sue are examples of everyday heroes that have the safety of our kids as their priority.

Thank you and job well done, Dave and Sue!
