Couple Brings Corgi Mom and Puppy Home Together

After losing their beloved corgi Nugget, Madison and her fiancé Brian began the search for another companion to brighten their home.

Madison soon found a foster mother corgi and her puppies who had been rescued from a puppy mill, inspiring the couple to offer to adopt any of the dogs—including the mom.

They were matched with a cheerful puppy they named Strudel, but agreed to consider adopting the mother, Pumpkin, once she was ready for a new home.

Recalling their first meeting with Pumpkin, Madison shared: “The poor girl dug a hole and hid under a bush most of the time, but was so sweet and gave little kisses once we sat with her for a bit.”

Aware of the challenges ahead, they wondered if they could manage caring for a puppy and a recovering adult, but a moment of clarity led them to welcome Pumpkin, too.

Despite initial worries about her fear and health, they hoped Strudel’s playful energy would help Pumpkin, while she would help guide him.

“And after two years, I can confidently say that balance has worked out perfectly for all of us,” Madison said.

Their touching journey was shared in a TikTok video, revealing the joyful bond between the two dogs as they grew inseparable and celebrated holidays together.

Training both dogs came with challenges. Madison explained: “How to play, how to sit, lay down, shake a paw, high five, hop, even just how to relax and do nothing at all. It’s been amazing to watch. They’ve become the very best of friends and balance each other out so perfectly that they’ve practically become twins.”

The story has touched hearts online, with comments celebrating the couple for giving Pumpkin a loving home with her son.

“It’s everything we could’ve ever dreamed of for her and more, and I earnestly think Pumpkin’s only been able to become this version of herself because she has her baby Strudel by her side,” Madison reflected.
