Couple Who Met At Dunkin’ Drive-Thru Window Was Married There!

• Sugar works as a general manager in Dunkin’ and it’s also where he met his husband John. 
• John was a frequent customer who fell in love with Sugar through the drive-thru window. 
• He proposed to her through the same window and they decided to get married there as well.

Sugar Good’s love story is just as sugary sweet and as feel-good as her name and her workplace where she met and married the man of her life — John Thompson.

The 49-year-old Sugar met John, 45, in 2017, when he took a stop over at Dunkin’ drive-thru in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was a regular in the restaurant, but that day was special because the general manager, a woman whom he didn’t know the name, served his order. Since then, he frequented the store more and fell in love with her day after day. 

In September 2018, John, an ex-marine, finally had the courage to give her his number. Little did he know, Sugar had already planned to give him her business card along with his order of sweets, a Dunkin’ spokesperson told TODAY Food. 

He learned of her sweet name and called her right away that evening. Then they had their first date on September 23, 2018.

In April this year, John proposed to Sugar at 3 in the morning, after he brought her early to work, right exactly on the window where they met. 

On October 13, they had their wedding held at the same window, with other customers on the back, witnessing their sweet exchange of vows. Because it was a special day, free treats were given, and a tower of their favorite maple and glazed doughnuts served as their wedding cake!

“I am so thankful for everything Dunkin’ has given me — from my job to lifelong friends, and now, my husband,” Sugat told TODAY. “When John and I were planning our big day, we decided there was no better place to say ‘I do’ than right where we met. This Dunkin’ drive-thru has brought me one of my biggest blessings, and we’re so glad we were able to celebrate such a special occasion here with our Dunkin’ family!”

After the ceremony, they went to be with their family in Eureka, Arkansas, not only to complete their vows surrounded by nature but also to celebrate Sugar’s birthday. 

“God blessed me with an amazing husband for my birthday,” she posted on Facebook.

That certainly is a sugary sweet love story.
