Divers Uncover Lost WWI Submarine Wreck
Quick Smiles:
- Divers explore a century-old Royal Navy submarine wreck.
- The team includes shipwreck expert and YouTuber Dominic Robinson.
- The dive brought attention to fascinating, forgotten naval history.
A team led by professional diver and YouTuber Dominic Robinson journeyed 20 miles off the Plymouth coast to visit the remains of the HMS M1 submarine, 100 years after it sank.
This remarkable vessel, once equipped with a massive 12-inch gun, vanished beneath the waves in 1925 after a collision with the SS Vidar.
The sub, constructed during World War I, was never used in combat and remained hidden until discovered by a salvage crew in 1967 and later identified in 1999.
“One of the most incredible submarines ever built.”
The dive was technically challenging, reaching depths far beyond typical recreational dives, adding to the sense of adventure and discovery for the team.
Robinson’s Deep Wreck Diver YouTube channel is dedicated to sharing deep-sea shipwreck history, aiming to inspire curiosity about forgotten places beneath the sea.
