When looking for a snuggling partner, we’d most likely go for something or someone fluffier and warmer, especially when it’s cold. Perhaps that’s what Monkey the kitten was thinking when they ditched their owner so they could switch to their golden retriever sibling named Kai.

In a video shared on TikTok by user Brownhikingtrails, we can see Monkey hanging out with their human on the couch. He then sneaks away from their owner and slowly approaches Kai, who was also laying on the couch near them.

The tiny kitten slowly makes their way toward Kai, as if they were asking for permission to snuggle.

Monkey takes their time to look for the perfect spot and position and finally nestles under Kai’s snout and near his furry tummy.

Kai also adjusts himself to better accommodate the tiny kitten.

The video played Elvis Presley’s “Hurt” as background music to symbolize the hurt that Monkey’s owner felt for getting “abandoned” for someone else. The clip has been viewed over 7.3 million times.

While it does feel hurtful that the kitten would prefer the dog over their human, someone noted that dogs generally have a warmer temperature than us humans. That could be the reason why Monkey chose Kai over their human as a snuggle partner.

To be completely honest, we wouldn’t blame Monkey. We’d choose Kai as a snuggle partner anytime!

The cat and dog siblings also spend a lot of time together during their hiking adventures. They also love playing with each other when they’re not on their outdoor adventures.
