Liver Transplant Breakthroughs Reignite Hope for Young Cancer Survivors

David Lyon was only 26 years old when a routine day took a sharp turn after he noticed unusual physical symptoms.
Despite his young age and healthy lifestyle, a medical checkup led to a shocking stage four colorectal cancer diagnosis.
The health challenge required David to undergo intensive chemotherapy, surgery, and eventually a life-saving liver transplant at the Cleveland Clinic.
Against all odds, the resilient hockey player maintained his positive outlook and passion for physical activity throughout the entire process.
“I didn’t think much of it,” Lyon recalls regarding his initial symptoms, before urging others to never hesitate when seeking medical advice.
“When I step on the ice, I forget about everything that’s happening,” he says about the sport that helped maintain his sanity during his journey.
Today, David enjoys an excellent prognosis and lives a full life without the need for further treatments.
He continues to share his story to prove that even the most difficult health battles can lead to a triumphant and healthy future.
