In a remarkable display of community spirit, residents in Hollywood Hills banded together to prevent a potential disaster as a new brush fire threatened their neighborhood.

As the fire spread near Runyan Canyon, evacuation orders were issued, yet a few brave souls chose to stay behind.

Their decision proved crucial when embers from the blaze ignited a palm tree above a deserted home.

A group of about six neighbors quickly sprang into action.

Armed with a ladder and garden hoses, they climbed onto the roof, determined to extinguish the flames before they could spread.

“The concern is all these ashes are falling on top of this house and the house next door,” reported a local news source, capturing the urgency of the situation.

The report added, “To this point with this fire, we have not seen any houses go up in flames, but you know how it gets, one turns to two, turns to a dozen really quickly.”

“The balcony was on fire and I went around back to grab the garden hose and luckily they had a Ring camera as well,” he explained.

“They were like, ‘Hello, what are you doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Your house is on fire; I’m trying to save it.’ So, they were grateful.”

For 40 tense minutes, the group battled the flames, finally succeeding in quelling the threatening embers.

A viewer praised their efforts, noting, “These people are absolute heroes. Probably saved a lot of homes from catching fire.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department, working tirelessly through the night, managed to fully contain the fire by midnight.
