Quick Smiles:

  • Daniel Drouin won a cottage or $150,000 after his home burned down
  • The win came just days after his family lost their house
  • He describes the experience as a “life-changing” fresh start

Daniel Drouin from Prince Edward Island turned a small act of charity into a new beginning for his family. Days after losing his home to a fire, he learned he had won a charity raffle, giving him the option of a cozy wooden cottage or a $150,000 prize.

“It’s life-changing really,” Drouin shared. “It’s just such a weird coincidence that… I get picked out of that many people.”

Drouin, a musician and father of two, only entered after encouragement from his girlfriend, despite long odds. The fire struck suddenly in July, but thanks to quick action by his son, everyone made it out safely.

The win from the Big Brothers Big Sisters raffle brought hope when it was needed most. Drouin plans to explore the cottage option while searching for a place to rebuild his family’s life.

“It means a fresh start really, I mean, yeah, and a fresh start for the kids, too, and everybody will be back together,” he said.

A single act of generosity can spark the most incredible turns of fate. Share this story to spread some hope and smiles!
