Sarah Jessica Parker is bidding a fond farewell to Carrie Bradshaw, the beloved character she portrayed for nearly three decades. Following the announcement that “And Just Like That” would not return for a fourth season, Parker took to Instagram to share a moving poem and a montage of moments celebrating her journey as Carrie throughout the years.

“She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions. Traveled near and far for the new, the vintage, friends and love. Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City,” Parker wrote, beautifully capturing Carrie’s growth and spirit.

The touching tribute reminisced about cherished memories: hailing cabs, running in heels, and dancing with Stanford, the late Willie Garson’s unforgettable character. Parker made sure to honor her co-stars Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Sarita Choudhury, and Nicole Ari Parker, expressing her gratitude and joy at the friendships forged over the years.

“Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections,” she shared.

Parker reflected on what Carrie has meant to her, both personally and professionally: “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.”

Together, Parker and showrunner Michael Patrick King decided it was time for this chapter to close. “‘AJLT’ was all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us. I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget the whole thing,” Parker continued with gratitude.

Fans responded with an outpouring of love and support. “This is so devastating and liberating at the same time,” commented one fan, while another wrote, “I will love these characters forever. THANK YOU SJP ❤️❤️❤️.” Parker’s co-stars and friends also joined in, with Kristin Davis calling Parker’s post “Beautiful” and Andy Cohen adding multiple red heart emojis.

Kristin Davis shared her own reflections, saying she was “profoundly sad” about the series’ end but deeply grateful: “I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever.”

Showrunner Michael Patrick King expressed similar gratitude, thanking viewers for “letting these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.” He shared that they waited to announce the series finale so that it would not overshadow the enjoyment of the last season’s episodes.

As Parker signs off, she leaves her audience with love and thanks: “I love you so. I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do.” It’s a heartfelt goodbye to a treasured character, and a powerful reminder of the joy and connection that stories can bring.
