Sassy Kitten Named ‘Spicy Chicken Nugget’ Finds Forever Home After Going Viral

• An unusual note by a pet shelter catches the web’s attention and potential adopters.
• ‘Spicy Chicken Nugget’ introduces himself as the boss and enumerates things he hates, and tolerates that hooks his adoptive mom.

We have all seen what pet shelters have been doing to get their wards adopted— from posting videos to persuasive letters written by grade schoolers.  But a clever description of a sassy kitten named ‘Spicy Chicken Nugget’ paves the way for his adoption.  You can say it’s not the cutiepatootie type of getting the attention of potential adopters, but with the note going viral on social media, it remarkably worked!

The Humane Society of Harlingen in Texas started the note with the cat introducing himself as “Spicy Chicken Nugget” and says that he has seen his photos circulating all over the net and continues with saying he is the boss.

He ends the first salvo with a warning that he hates everything and added, “That’s right, hoomans, hate ‘em— toys, ain’t got time; snuggles? barf; head scritches? Don’t touch me. You want to pick me up? I’m a black belt in karate.”

He then enumerates the few things that he will tolerate and then issues a stern warning for humans to not be too quick: “Food? Well I gotta eat, don’t I??? A nice warm bed? A guy’s gotta rest!! A little peace and quiet? I need it more than anyone!!

By this time, instead of scaring the would-be adopter, one cannot help but read on as the spirited cat says, “Someone please rescue me and give me the kingdom I rightfully DESERVE and maybe, just maybe, you’ll turn me into a mushy loving chicken nugget. HA! DON’T COUNT ON IT! Now get out of my way – I think I’ll take a jog around the room. You’re STILL here?? Might as well donate to the hoomans taking care of me! Okay NOW I’m leaving.”

With the way it ends, the adoptive human cannot help but be captivated and want to get to know ‘Spicy Chicken Nugget’ more! By this time, they are wrapped around her paws and adopt him!  Which one human did the day after the note was posted.

And so, the shelter’s update read: “Hey it’s spicy chicken nugget signing off! I’m finally getting my kingdom with my forever hooman today. I know I said I hated everything but this isn’t so bad. I kinda like her. DON’T tell anyone!”

And went on to appeal to others that there are PLENTY of other kittens at the humane society waiting to live the rest of their lives in their forever homes.
