  • A teenager scooped out a toddler floating face down on a pool.
  • Another bystander performed a successful CPR before the toddler was brought to the hospital.
  • The teenager and the child’s families now enjoy holidays, birthdays, and a friendship.

When teenager Kaydence Henslee of New Mexico saw a toddler face down on a pool while vacationing in Disney World, Orlando, Florida, she immediately called other people’s attention.

Kaydence said, “I was scared and nervous and afraid, but my instincts kicked in. I just saw her kind of floating. She wasn’t technically on the bottom when I was there. When I pulled her out, her lip was purple.”

She then ran while yelling to the people in the bar area to call 911.

With the help of a bystander who performed CPR, they were able to revive the child and then rushed to the hospital.

The toddler’s mom, Ashley Williams, did not know that it was her child until she recognized the bathing suit that the child was wearing. She said that she just briefly stepped out of the pool.

Ashley works in a children’s hospital. She is familiar with emergency cases and situations but for it to happen to her and her child was completely unexpected. Thanks to Kaydence, Haven Williams is okay.

“Even the doctors are saying that whoever got her out of the water did it at a perfect time because if she would have been under the water a little longer, it would have been a different outcome,” she shared.

Because of the experience, two good things have emerged. First, it inspired the teenager to become CPR-certified. Second, the Henslee and Williams families have become good friends.

Thanks to the teen’s quick actions, the Williams family can celebrate and enjoy Haven’s 4th birthday, Easter, and all the holidays yet to come.

All is well.
