Quick Smiles:

  • NFL funded offsets for 3,000 tons CO2, delivering carbon-neutral impact.
  • Levi’s solar-powered stadium used biodiesel generators and color-coded bins with helpful staff.
  • Prioritized donations for maximum community benefit every year.

The NFL partnered with ENGIE Impact to make Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium sustainable, offsetting carbon emissions, recycling all waste, and using green renewable power.

Building on New Orleans’ success of recovering 250 tons of materials—a five-fold increase—they donated fence mesh to parks, tailgate carpets to schools for classroom squares, and signage to artists while reusing scaffolding and banners for future events like the World Cup.

“This year, we donated fence mesh that lined the stadium to parks and recreation departments; leftover carpets from tailgate parties were given to schools to repurpose as carpet squares in classrooms; and wayfinding signage with blank back sides was given to artists, as it provides a great canvas for new projects.”

said Ryan Schlar, Director of Sustainable Mobile Operations at ENGIE.

“We always try to work with and prioritize organizations that can offer a large communal benefit.”

“Success looks different every year because we set the bar based on the stadium’s preexisting baseline.”

Schlar added.
