Nine-year-old Logan Vangemert from Michigan became an unexpected hero when he saved a man’s life just one day after training.

The fourth grader was at church when a leader named Tom suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest.

While others were unsure how to react, Logan immediately began performing chest compressions using skills he had learned at school less than 24 hours prior.

His swift actions kept Tom stable until an AED arrived to restart his heart.

“I heard a voice in my head telling me to go, so I sprinted over there,” Logan recalled of the intense moment.

“Then it said some pretty good things about me.”

Tom has since made a full recovery after surgery, and Logan’s bravery was celebrated by his entire school and the American Heart Association.

The young hero now hopes to pursue a career in medicine to continue helping others.

“I am beyond proud of him for stepping up and doing something extremely difficult—even for an adult,” his mother shared.
