A Youth-Led Initiative Is Transforming Tennis Ball Recycling Practices

Quick Smiles:
- Twelve Pacific Palisades students launched Another Bounce to recycle tennis balls.
- They partner with organizations to turn discarded balls into plastic pellets.
- They’re advocating for circular solutions and a Guinness World Record effort.
A determined group of twelve high school students from Pacific Palisades is tackling the environmental impact of racquet sports by collecting non-biodegradable tennis and pickleballs. Their initiative, Another Bounce, aims to set a Guinness World Record during an Earth Day collection event on April 19.
The team partners with organizations to transform discarded balls into plastic pellets used for industrial products like nursery pots and carpeting. By advocating for a circular business model, these young leaders hope to prevent millions of balls from spending centuries in landfills.
The founders believe that their firsthand experience with court waste makes them the perfect advocates for sustainable change in the sports industry.
“We play the sport, we see the waste, and we aren’t waiting for adults to fix it.”
Habits of Waste founder Sheila Morovati expressed immense pride in the students’ proactive approach to environmental stewardship.
“Youth leadership is one of the most powerful forces for change.”
By turning passion for sports into environmental action, these teenagers are proving that dedicated youth can drive global conversations about sustainability and corporate responsibility.
