A Trans Dad And His Deaf And Blind Pup Hope To Show The World That Despite Differences, We Deserve Love [Video]

  • Aiden Mann was initially nervous to take care of Plum, a deaf and blind dog.
  • But he believed they were meant to be together and so they developed a way to communicate through touch signals.
  • Aiden is a transman and he hopes that his relationship with Plum would show the world that no matter how different we are, we deserve to love, be loved, and be happy.

Aiden Mann, a 25-year-old veterinary assistant, from Nashville, Tennessee, uploaded a video on TikTok showing how he wakes up his mini Australian shepherd pet named Plum. But Plum is actually deaf and blind and she gets easily scared so the tricky part for Aiden is how to wake Plum up without frightening her every morning.

“People ask me how I wake up my deaf and blind pup without scaring her,” Aiden said in the caption of his TikTok video.

He can be seen approaching the soundly asleep pup, and huddles down near her as he ever so slightly blows her hair. She then wakes up and quickly snuggles with him.

“I slightly blow on her,” he said. “She still gets startled until she feels me. Then she wants all the love.”

So do we!—and all their fans on TikTok definitely felt the love. The video has since gone viral with 52 million views and 12.6 million likes.

“Why am I crying?” wrote YouTuber Manuel “Manny MUA” Gutierrez.

The Chainsmokers also commented saying it gave them “the feels.”

“Not being dramatic, but I would die for that dog,” another fan emotionally said.

Aiden told Insider that the moment he met Plum last summer, he knew that they were meant to be together forever.

He also has another pet, Lola—a Staffordshire bull terrier and Great Dane mix—for five years.

At first, it was difficult for Aiden to communicate with Plum until they developed touch signals to understand each other.

Aiden, Lola, and Plum are always inseparable and love to go out together for a long walk or to swim.

He hopes that his two beloved pups would bring not only joy to people, but also awareness of double merle breeding that might have caused Plum’s condition.

Being a transman, he also hopes that his relationship with Plum would show the world that no matter how different we are, we deserve to love, be loved, and be happy.
