Anonymous Donor Reunites WWII Veteran With Community
Quick Smiles:
- 100-year-old WWII veteran Bill Shea returned home after a harrowing ordeal.
- An anonymous donor gifted $60,000 for his medical flight.
- Friends and legion members welcomed him with heartfelt support.
Bill Shea, a centenarian World War II veteran from Harrow, Ontario, received a hero’s welcome as he arrived at Harrow Legion Branch 338 to cheers and smiles from loved ones.
After falling seriously ill during an Alaskan cruise, Shea’s family faced difficulty getting him home due to the high cost of a specialized medical flight.
When an anonymous donor heard his story, they generously paid the entire $60,000 flight bill, making Shea’s return possible.
Members of Shea’s local legion shared how much his presence means to them.
“To the person that donated the money, you’re an angel. We needed him back home. We missed him a lot,” said Branch 338 President Paul Chartier.
