Orlando Bloom, the British movie star and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, visited Ukraine for the first time since 2016 and met with President Zelensky to address the ongoing conflict and the impact on the children of Ukraine.

During his visit, Bloom visited a UNICEF-supported children’s center and bomb shelters, where he witnessed the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the trauma they have endured. He praised the strength and courage of the people of Ukraine and encouraged President Zelensky to “go win” the war against Russia.

President Zelensky shared on Instagram that the war has destroyed the childhood of Ukrainian children, with thousands of schools damaged or destroyed and millions forced to study online or in mixed formats. Bloom also discussed the issue of Russia’s abduction of children and the need for foster families.

He shared his admiration for a family of five who took in four additional kids into their home, saying that this should be the future for children in Ukraine instead of institutionalized methods of raising them.

Overall, Bloom’s visit highlighted the importance of addressing the needs of children affected by the conflict in Ukraine and the resilience of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity.
