  • Season 34 of “Dancing With the Stars” marked its 20th anniversary with a vibrant premiere.
  • Robert Irwin and Whitney Leavitt tied for the highest scores on opening night.
  • No one was eliminated, so all 14 celebrity contestants will return for week two.

Excitement soared as “Dancing With the Stars” launched its milestone 34th season, welcoming 14 new celebrities ready to dazzle the ballroom for the iconic Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy. The show celebrated its 20th anniversary with a sensational opening number, bringing fans energetic performances right from the start.

“Kill the Lights” by Whitney Myer set the tone as the professionals showcased their choreography, leading to a warm welcome from co-hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough. Judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough joined the festivities, though Carrie Ann Inaba was missed due to illness.

Each celebrity paired up for memorable dances, from salsa and cha cha to tango and jive, with the stars performing to songs that represent them. The judges reminded everyone that the season had just begun and surprises could be ahead as contestants progress.

Robert Irwin and Witney Carson impressed with a jive to “Born To Be Wild,” tying with Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas for the highest score of the night—both couples earned 15 out of 20.

“There’s so much fun and excitement to look forward to as these stars continue their dance journeys,” the judges noted.

No one faced elimination during the premiere, so all the contestants have another chance to shine in the coming week. Next week’s double elimination will keep everyone on their toes, as combined scores and live viewer votes determine who stays in the competition.

Fans can support their favorites by voting on the show’s website or via SMS during the live broadcast window, giving everyone the chance to play a part in the results.
