  • Kevin the dog becomes the star of TikTok with his lively reaction to a wildlife documentary.
  • His owner, Sam Spencer, shares insights into Kevin’s TV habits and preferences.
  • A study confirms that dogs are indeed drawn to TV, especially when animals are involved.

A delightful TikTok video featuring Kevin, a Norfolk terrier, has taken the internet by storm as he reacts with sheer enthusiasm to a wildlife documentary.

In the clip, shared by @doggleboxkevin, Kevin is seen completely captivated by a thrilling scene of hyenas chasing buffalos, leading him to bark energetically and leap around in excitement.

Sam Spencer, Kevin’s owner, explains that her 8-year-old furry companion has always had a penchant for television, often sitting contentedly in front of the screen for up to two hours.

“He is quite obsessed at the moment and will even ask for the TV to be turned on by barking,” she shared.

“A proper Gen Z dog.”

Spencer, who works as a TV producer in Bristol, England, notes that Kevin isn’t shy about expressing his opinions on various programs, especially when it comes to sports.

“He will watch most shows, but he doesn’t like sports that much, so he will ask to change the channel by barking if there’s too much football on,” she mentioned.

“But other than that, he will happily sit and watch a program, and it seems to keep him occupied, which makes my life easier if I’m working from home! His current favorite show is about big cats.”

Research from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine supports the idea that dogs enjoy watching TV, particularly content featuring other animals.

The study found that 86 percent of surveyed dogs watched video content, with many showing excitement by approaching the screen or vocalizing.

Movement on screens is a key factor drawing dogs’ attention, which explains Kevin’s animated response.

Kevin’s spirited engagement with the Netflix documentary series Our Planet, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, exemplifies this phenomenon.

The TikTok video of Kevin has garnered over 131,000 views and 11,600 likes, with viewers charmed by his antics.

“Oh, look at him galloping with them!” another added.

A third user pondered: “I wonder which one he’s cheering for.”

Meanwhile, a fourth admirer remarked: “Firstly, Kevin – what a terrific name for a doggo. Secondly, his whole energy at this stampede – you can tell he is invested in this.”
