Eric Dane Remains Hopeful Amid ALS Journey

Eric Dane, widely known for his work on “Grey’s Anatomy,” was unable to attend the 2025 Emmys after an unexpected fall at home led to a hospital visit for stitches.

He shared in an interview that his absence was disappointing, as he had looked forward to joining his co-star Jesse Williams on stage and reconnecting with his peers.

“ALS is a nasty disease. … So I was in the hospital during the Emmys getting stitches put in my head,” Dane explained.

He expressed that missing the ceremony was difficult, but there was nothing he could do about it given the circumstances.

Dane, diagnosed with ALS earlier this year, remains dedicated to his acting career and advocates for ALS research through the “Push for Progress” initiative with “I Am ALS.”

“I’m Eric Dane. An actor, a father and now a person living with ALS,” he shared in an online video. “For over a century, ALS has been incurable, and we’re done accepting the status quo. We need the fastest path to a cure.”

As a father of two, Dane asks for privacy for his family but highlights his continued hope and determination to keep working as long as possible.

“I’m going to ride this till the wheels fall off,” he said in June. “Keeps me sharp. It keeps me moving forward, which is super important right now.”

Dane’s resilience and advocacy shine a light on the importance of hope and perseverance, inspiring many through both his personal journey and passion for making a difference.
