“I saw the flames coming up from the window and one guy was lying on the [sidewalk]. He had blood on his face, and I think he might have broken both his legs when he jumped from the building,” Zareba recounted.

“Another guy was screaming from the window. He didn’t know what he was supposed to do because he had flames behind him, and the long drop below him.”

In an inspiring display of quick thinking, Zareba maneuvered his semi-truck to position the trailer directly beneath the window. This allowed the man to leap onto the trailer’s roof, a moment captured in a video shared on social media.

Zareba remained composed, ensuring the safety of anyone else who might need to escape.

Once the Dublin fire brigade arrived, Zareba moved his truck to a safe distance, observing as the situation unfolded. He shared, “I waited another 20 minutes because the road was blocked and then the fireman came over and said, ‘Grand job buddy, thanks for that’ and I went on to finish my deliveries for the day.”

Zareba’s employer, a grocery chain with a strong presence in Ireland, expressed their delight at his actions. They commended his dedication to the community and his ability to remain calm under pressure.
