Katherine LaNasa recalls a special first day filming “The Pitt” when she met Lisa Ann Walter, describing it as a full-circle moment. Not only do their characters celebrate Pennsylvania pride in their respective shows, but their real-life connection is also meaningful to LaNasa.

“God, I love Lisa Ann Walter,” LaNasa says, sharing how she studied Walter’s “Abbott Elementary” performance to perfect her character’s accent. Walter herself noticed fans suggesting their characters could be cousins, playfully fueling the idea online.

LaNasa looked to her friend Elaine Hendrix for encouragement during tough times before landing the role of Dana Evans. She remembers, “Elaine said, ‘Just keep going. Look at Lisa Ann. She couldn’t get arrested, and now she’s on ‘Abbott Elementary.’”

Both “The Pitt” and “Abbott Elementary” enjoy wide recognition and have become fan favorites. New episodes of the medical drama are airing through April 16, providing more opportunities to cheer for Nurse Dana.

The new season finds Nurse Dana returning to work after facing trauma, supporting her team and helping patients in need. LaNasa notes, “Now that she’s back, I don’t know that she’s entirely ready, and I don’t know that people really ever get over something like that.”

Behind the scenes, LaNasa envisions her character grounded by family, including a loving husband and three daughters. She also delights in casting her own daughter as Dana’s granddaughter for desk photos, adding a personal touch to her portrayal.

Looking ahead, LaNasa teases a dramatic conflict between Dana and Robby, hinting that fans can expect exciting developments in the coming episodes. “There’s conflict between Dana and Robby this year,” she shares. “That’s all I’m going to tease. … It’s good. It’s juicy.”
