  • Jake Scrace set a new world record by kitesurfing 1,587 feet above the Isle of Wight.
  • The thrilling feat was achieved with the support of a 30-member team and verified by multiple methods.
  • The project celebrated both Gleeds’ 150th anniversary and 70 years of Guinness World Records.

British kitesurfer Jake Scrace made history by reaching an astonishing altitude of 1,587 feet over the Isle of Wight, towering above the famous Needles cliffs.

He achieved this by being towed up by a para-motor, then letting go at the peak and gliding back to the sparkling waters below.

The record-breaking stunt involved months of preparation, a skilled crew, and advanced technology to verify the achievement.

“It was the biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on,” Jake shared, recalling his previous kitesurfing stunts.

He added, “Up there, it was about trusting the team, the conditions, and just going for it.”

Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel remarked, “We celebrate extraordinary feats that push the boundaries of human achievement. Gleeds’ record-breaking kitesurf tow-up is a stunning example of innovation, precision, and daring.”
