Quick Smiles:

  • Lay’s launches its biggest rebrand in nearly a century.
  • Chips now highlight real potatoes and natural ingredients.
  • New designs celebrate flavors and uplifting colors.

Lay’s is refreshing its image with the most significant update in its almost 100-year history, introducing a vibrant new logo, brighter packaging, and a commitment to natural flavors and colors. The revamped design features a warmer sun called “Lay’s Rays,” along with a new color palette inspired by recipe ingredients like pickle green and savory red.

The phrase “made with real potatoes” now appears on every bag, showcased alongside vivid product photos for a more appetizing appeal. Lay’s keeps its iconic red ribbon and introduces packaging that celebrates ingredients from around the world.

“This redesign, the brand’s biggest in nearly a century, is a love letter to our origins,” said Carl Gerhards, PepsiCo’s Senior Director of Design, Global Lay’s.

Product ingredients are evolving too, as Lay’s Baked will use olive oil, while Baked Lay’s Kettle Cooked Reduced Fat Original Sea Salt will use avocado oil, with even more new options coming in 2026.

The announcement sparked online curiosity, as the company noted that 42% of Lay’s fans weren’t aware the chips are made from real, farm-grown potatoes. Social media lit up in disbelief about the fun fact, with some users pointing out that potatoes are prominently featured on Lay’s packaging.

This cheerful update reminds us that sometimes, there’s more to our favorite snacks than meets the eye—and now it’s all about celebrating real flavors and bright moments.
