Quick Smiles:

  • A one-eyed rescue cat named Bowie was found after four months missing.
  • Community members and a local cat rescue worked together to safely capture him.
  • The grateful family donated a reward to animal rescues that helped reunite Bowie with them.

Bowie the one-eyed rescue cat vanished just as his family prepared to move from Los Angeles to Boston, leaving them heartbroken and searching for weeks. Flyers were put up everywhere, and the family delayed their move hoping for his safe return, but months passed with no sign of him.

Angela Trotti, temporarily living in Los Angeles, noticed the old flyer while exploring her new neighborhood. The cat pictured looked remarkably like one she had seen nearby, prompting her to send a photo to the number on the flyer just in case.

The quick response confirmed it was indeed Bowie. The family, who had feared the worst, activated a plan to fly back for him immediately.

“He was extra skittish given being outside for the past 4 months and having gotten in a few neighborhood cat fights,” Trotti explained in her efforts to help catch him.

With the help of Nela Cats and some treats, Bowie was gently captured and cared for until his family reunited with him. Two days later, Bowie’s dad arrived from Boston to bring him home.

In gratitude, the family awarded Trotti $500, which she donated to the cat rescue that originally helped Bowie, Luxe Paws LA.

Trotti shared the uplifting reunion story on TikTok, where millions celebrated the happy ending. She emphasized the vital role played by both Luxe Paws and Nela Cats, encouraging others to support animal rescue organizations.
