Quick Smiles:

  • Pete Davidson credits his mom’s honesty for inspiring his journey to sobriety.
  • He shares gratitude for his support system, including family and friends.
  • Davidson is excited to become a father and celebrate over a year of being sober.

Pete Davidson recently opened up about how a heart-to-heart with his mother, Amy, motivated him to make positive changes in his life. After reaching a low point and noticing loved ones distancing themselves, he realized the importance of wanting to get better for himself.

“My mom’s the most supportive person in the world,” he shared during the podcast “This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von.”

The comedian recalled a powerful conversation while he was in rehab, where his mom expressed her deepest fear about him. He admitted her honesty inspired him to work towards sobriety, realizing the impact his choices had on those he loved.

Davidson, who has spoken openly about his mental health journey, appreciates the encouragement from people close to him, including his mom and fellow “SNL” cast member Colin Jost. Taking steps like therapy and surrounding himself with positivity have played a key part in his ongoing progress.

Looking ahead, Davidson and model Elsie Hewitt are preparing to welcome their first child, a milestone he says would not have been possible before his recovery. He expressed his excitement and gratitude for being sober and ready for this new chapter.

“I’m really grateful it happened now… and it’s been awesome,” Davidson reflected.
