  • Her story has united dog lovers in encouragement and hope online.
  • She reminds us of the strength and spirit of senior rescue pets.

Dog enthusiasts everywhere are lifting Slinky, a courageous senior rescue dachshund, after her owner shared her difficult journey online.

Her guardian, known as Frasnet, adopted Slinky in 2022, bringing her home from a background of hardship and neglect.

“She was surrendered from illegal breeders with severe gum disease and gave birth to a stillborn puppy,” he explained.

Slinky underwent surgeries for dental issues and nerve damage, but her new family was determined to give her the love she deserved.

Frasnet and his wife believed in her despite her age and health, offering her care, cuddles, and plenty of encouragement to help her flourish.

For months, Slinky blossomed and developed her own joyful personality with her rescue siblings Belle and Zeina.

However, new health challenges emerged this year when Slinky began to stumble and lose weight rapidly.

“We decided she was losing weight so quickly we didn’t have time to investigate and booked her in for surgery,” Frasnet shared.

Her resilience shined—despite fears about the operation, she survived and is now recovering.

“She would have died in days without it, but it looks like she is pulling through,” he said.

“She really is a fighter and is not ready to give up.”

Slinky’s story has touched thousands of hearts online, with countless messages cheering her on during her recovery.

“I’m cheering for you, Slinky. You go girl, stay strong,” one supporter wrote.

“Sending much love and wishes for healing,” added another.

“May the feisty Doxie spirit carry you through recovery,” a third commenter shared.

While she continues to heal, Slinky’s loving family celebrates every milestone and appreciates the outpouring of community support.

Frasnet hopes Slinky’s experience inspires compassion for senior and special-needs rescue pets everywhere.

“Old, disabled, ill-health animals need love too, especially when humans did this to her, breeding the next insta-pup, the mums just discarded,” he concluded.

Slinky’s determination is a beautiful reminder: no matter the hardships, there’s always hope for a brighter chapter and loving home.
