Shelter dog who had no guests at adoption party finally finds home after 225 days

- Many people were heartbroken when they learned how Luke the rescue dog had no guests at his adoption party.
- Luke had trouble finding a family because he was very shy in nature.
- Finally, after 225 days at the shelter, he has come home to his new family, Karl and Jill Kendrick.
Meet Luke, a lovable rescue dog who made headlines in February when he got stood up at his Valentine’s Day-themed adoption party.
Luke had been at the Battersea Brands Hatch shelter for over 200 days before the poorly-attended event.
The shelter had been struggling to find a home for the 5-year-old shelter pup from Kent, England, since he was shy and wasn’t comfortable around other pups.
When the story about Luke’s unluckiness in love came out, several people were heartbroken.
Many people sent in handwritten notes, letters, and donations to Battersea Brands Hatch.
Luke now had a lot of admirers who were interested in giving him a home!
Among Luke’s many admirers were Karl and Jill Kendrick of Derbyshire, England.
The shelter found the couple, who had two daughters, to be the perfect forever family for Luke.
Finally, after 225 days at the shelter, Luke moved in with the Kendricks. After several weeks, he had quickly adjusted to his new home.
Luke’s new dad, Karl, called Luke’s long-time stay at the shelter a “mystery.”
“Any new owner would have been lucky to rehome him,” he said. “Since we’ve brought him home, he’s shown himself to be the perfect dog and has really settled in so quickly — we already love him so much and wouldn’t change him for the world.”

“We feel so lucky to be the family who gives Luke his forever home,” he added. “He has really made our family unit complete. He’ll never spend Valentine’s Day alone again.”
In Battersea’s update on Luke, they shared that the pup has already found his favorite places in his new home. He particularly loves his own duvet!
“Over the years, we’ve seen many of our dogs appear in the news, but we’ve never seen any of our animals capture as many hearts across the world as Luke did,” Battersea Brands Hatch center manager Michelle Bevan shared.
“From receiving love letters, to gifts in the post, it’s clear to see that thousands of people fell in love with this very special boy” she added. “We’re so pleased that so many people support rescue dogs like Luke, and that he’s finally found the loving home he deserves.”

We’re so happy that Luke found his forever Valentines with his new family!
