Lorne Michaels has revealed plans to bring fresh energy to “Saturday Night Live” as the iconic show approaches its 51st season.

After keeping the cast steady for the milestone 50th season, Michaels now feels it’s time for some changes, saying, “It’ll be announced in a week or so.”

Season 51 premieres on NBC on October 4, and new episodes will air each Saturday, with streaming available on Peacock the following day.

While the full cast list has not yet been released, Michaels confirmed comedian James Austin Johnson will return in his familiar role as Donald Trump.

Michaels emphasized that although more people are involved in decisions, he still holds the final say. “There’s a lot of people in that room with a lot of opinions. I make the final decision, obviously,” he explained.

The beloved creator also shared that, at 80, he has no plans to retire, stating, “I don’t feel I’m done.”
