Quick Smiles:

  • Heartbroken traveler spots elderly veteran struggling at airport, decides to take action instead of scrolling past
  • Simple 8-second video sparks massive wave of kindness from strangers across the country
  • Community rallies to raise over $135,000 to help hardworking veteran finally rest after years of service

Sometimes life changes in an instant when we least expect it. James Blair went to work at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, just like he does every day.

It’s not easy for James, a military veteran who has trouble walking, but he always shows up. What he didn’t realize that day was that a woman named LaCinda took an 8-second video of James and posted it on social media.

LaCinda wasn’t making fun of James; she wanted to help him.

“Does anyone know this man at the John Wayne Airport? Watching him work so hard, he could barely move, barely walk truly broke my heart. I know there has to be a way we can help him retire,”

she wrote on her video’s caption.

We never know what will happen when we post on social media, but in LaCinda’s case, her heartfelt plea connected with millions. Her video has 5.8 million views, but even more impressive, it connected her with James himself.

LaCinda created a fundraiser to help raise money for James. She didn’t do it for attention, but because she genuinely wanted to make a difference.

“I don’t know his full story yet. I don’t know why he’s still working. But I do know this: no one at that stage of life should have to. So I’m starting this fundraiser with one simple hope—to give him a chance to rest,”

she wrote.

“To ease whatever burden is keeping him out there. To show him that people see him, and that his hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. If this video reached you, I believe it’s for a reason.”

LaCinda’s fundraiser has brought in more than $135,000 thus far. It’s incredible what a tiny act of kindness can do when people come together with compassion and generosity.

This story is a beautiful reminder that good people still exist, and that sometimes all it takes is one person willing to speak up and take action to change someone’s life forever.

Things like this really shows you the lack of regard for in this case a Veteran!
