  • When Zeke arrived at the shelter, they learned that it was a birth defect that made his face appear twisted.
  • After a few corrective dental surgeries, his crooked smile quickly won the hearts of the shelter staff.
  • The sweet pup is now looking for a new family to call home.

Zeke was born with a birth defect that gave his face a crooked appearance. But while he may look different, he’s just like other dogs. And his crooked smile has made him all the more beloved at The NOAH Center in Stanwood, Washington.

The center’s dog care coordinator, Katrina Wedin, says that Zeke loves people — and the shelter staff love him back!

“He wants to be as close to you as possible. If you go into his suite at the shelter, the first thing he wants to do is lean and sit in your lap,” Katrina shared. “Even though he’s a large dog, he does truly believe that he’s a lap dog.”

Zeke was only seven months old when he arrived at the shelter. A check-up with the vet revealed that a birth defect caused his face to look crooked.

But aside from a few corrective dental surgeries, he was generally healthy. He may need some more surgeries as he ages to prevent his deformity from bothering him, but he’s still a normal dog.

He had been adopted after a few months in the shelter, but when his family suffered difficult times, they had to return him.

Zeke is now searching for a new family to give him the love and attention that he deserves.

While there has been little interest in Zeke, the staff hopes that the right family will come along.

Katrina said, “He is a lovely, goofy man who desperately wants to be loved and be loyal to a forever person.”

Just look at this sweet face — his crooked smile definitely gives everyone joy. The shelter staffers can attest to it!
