Tiny pup inspires everyone to stop and smell the flowers

  • Finn, a 2-year-old Pekingese-Brussels griffon mix, has always been fond of plants and flowers.
  • He simply loves sniffing each flower he sees, be they real or fake.
  • Seeing him take the time to stop and smell the flowers has inspired others to do the same.

A dog’s sense of smell is about 10,000 to 100,000 times more powerful than that of an average human’s, so we can only imagine how delightful it must be for them to get a whiff of fresh flowers. One adorable pup has made sure to take the time to give every flower he sees a proper sniff.

Finn, a 2-year-old Pekingese-Brussels griffon mix, has shown a fondness for flowers since he was just a much-tinier puppy.

His mom, Sarah Geers, told The Dodo, “He was super fascinated by my father’s zinnia garden. He would just sit there and sniff them — didn’t try to bite them or anything, just sniff. Finn is a gentle pup.”

Even when it’s not spring yet and there are no flowers in bloom, Finn still finds a way to sniff the greenery. He would jump onto the coffee table to get a closer whiff of some store-bought flowers — or even fake plants!

Aside from flowers, Finn absolutely loves his family and people in general. According to Sarah, Finn loves sitting on laps, curling up under the covers with his dad, and following his mom everywhere. He also loves grocery stores or basically anywhere with lots of people!

And when Finn’s not busy seeking attention, he would seek out flowers to sniff — real or fake.

Whenever they shop at HomeGoods, Finn would ride in the cart and pop his head out to sniff the fake flowers as they pass by.

Sarah added, “He was also obsessed with my wedding flowers!”

Finn loves all kinds of flowers, but his favorite is the pansy. Lucky for him, the colorful flowers are nontoxic to dogs and even quite tasty, although the pup never snacks on the beautiful blooms.

Taking the time to stop and sniff the flowers has given the adorable pup lots of comfort and relaxation, inspiring everyone to do the same.

“He makes us smile and laugh every day. He’s always so happy and never stops wagging his tail or giving kisses. He reminds us daily to stay positive and to always show love,” Sarah shared.
