Ron Ross, a truck driver from Newport, Tennessee, made headlines for his courageous intervention that helped save a young woman from an alleged abduction.

While parked at a rest area in West Tennessee, Ross witnessed a frightening scene as a woman fled toward the woods with a man in pursuit.

“It scared me,” Ross said.

He immediately called 911, leading to a quick rescue by local authorities, who later learned the woman had been abducted in California. Ross also shared his dashcam video with police, providing critical evidence for investigators.

Reflecting on the incident, Ross confided to another driver, “Did I just save that girl’s life? I hope I did.”

The Truckload Carriers Association recognized Ross as a Highway Angel, an award given to professional drivers who show exceptional kindness and courage. Since 1997, the program has celebrated the heroic acts of nearly 1,500 truckers nationwide.

Ross’s employer, MCK Trucking, expressed immense pride in his actions. Safety Director David Wheeler stated, “MCK is grateful to have a driver like Ron who makes a difference in the world.”
