  • Millie, who is now 102 years old, a former military, finally completed her bucket list.
  • On Oct. 18, she ticked the last item off her list — skydiving!
  • She had so much fun, she even forgot at some point she had an instructor!

A hundred and two years old woman has done all the things she has wanted to do, ticking items one by one off her bucket list, except for one: Skydiving!

So on October 18, 2020, First Lt. Vivian “Millie” Bailey, decided to finally cross it out, boarded a Skydive Baltimore airplane, jumped out and just got it over with!

Millie’s inspiration for wanting to try skydiving was former president George H. W. Bush — who celebrated his 75th, 80th, 85th, and 90th birthdays with a “parachute jump.”

“[I] just always thought it would be a thrill,” she told WJZ.

Absolutely! She clearly had so much fun flying that she has even forgotten at some point that she was strapped to her instructor!

“At one point when we were tumbling in the air, I felt like I was by myself,” she recalled with a laugh. “I thought, ‘Where did the paratrooper go?’”

In 1942, Millie joined the U.S. Women’s Army Auxiliary and went up to become the commander in charge. In her career as a military, she has received multiple recognitions — including World War II Victory Medal, Women’s Army Corps Medal, and American Theater Medal.

She was a first lieutenant when she received her honorable discharge in 1946. After that, she worked tirelessly helping people at the Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration. She retired in 1975 but she still continued her heroic acts — helping veterans, schools, and food banks, for over 50 years.

“I try every day to do something for someone else,” Millie said. “There are a lot of things that I can look back on. I thoroughly am happy and feel blessed that I’ve been able to do whatever I’ve been able to do.”

Having spent most of her life serving her countrymen, this experience was a perfect way to conclude it all!
