  • Seeing his smile meant so much to his parents, who were appreciative of the film’s representation.

A 2-year-old boy is capturing the hearts of millions for his adorable reaction to seeing his look-alike in Disney’s Encanto.

The photos of his reaction were shared on Instagram by his mom, Kaheisha Brand.

In the first picture, we can see Kenzo Brooks proudly smiling as he stands next to his look-alike character, Antonio Madrigal. In the second photo, Kenzo can be seen sitting on the floor as he watches the film intently.

Kaheisha wrote in the caption, “Check Kenzo out in the new Disney Movie ‘Encanto’ lol.” She then showed appreciation for the film with the hashtags “#representationmatters” and “#ThankYouDisney.”

Last week, Kenzo was watching Encanto with his parents when they spotted the similarities between him and Antonio.

Kenzo’s dad, Keith Brooks, told Good Morning America, “I remember we first see him turn back and look at us and we were like, ‘Whoa.’ It just took us aback. I said, ‘Does he notice this looks like him?’”

Keith added that they were caught off-guard by the photo where Kenzo was standing next to the character Antonio. It was truly an amazing moment!

Kaheisha, who shared that she “didn’t have the same experience growing up,” said that this kind of representation “means the world” to her. She added that the first time she recalls seeing inclusivity was in Disney’s December 2009 animated film, The Princess and The Frog.

She declared, “I do believe there is power in representation and it does empower young Black and brown children.”

Keith agreed, saying, “It made me feel emotional to know that my son was able to see this and have that experience. And for so many other Black and brown boys and girls to be able to have that same experience.”

It has since won a Golden Globe award for Best Animated Feature Film. Its soundtrack, which features songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.
