  • Michael Martinez is a seven-year-old boy who suffers from cerebral palsy. He lived all his life on a wheelchair, barely able to move.
  • One night, Michael heard an unusual alarm from their home kitchen and he knew his family was in danger.
  • True enough, someone left the gas burner on, and had it not been because of Michael’s determination to wake his parents up despite his condition, they would all end up in big, big trouble.

Seven-year-old Michael Martinez who has cerebral palsy is not your ordinary kid. His is a story of true heroism, turning his “disability” to an “amazing ability.”

But on one fateful night, no one would ever think that this boy, who can hardly help himself, would end up saving his entire family from an apparent danger which would cost them their lives!

Waking up with a beeping sound that Michael hadn’t even heard before, he became scared but his instincts signaled danger, so he did the impossible.

Michael’s parents and the rest of his family seemed unaware of what was going on, so he decided to wake them up. With all the strength he had, he crawled to his parents’ room to tell them that something was wrong.

Michael was just right in time when his parents and relatives woke up and hurried outside to keep them from inhaling poison from Carbon Monoxide. Apparently, someone had left the stove burner on, and that was when the Carbon Monoxide alarm went off, sending them a warning.

Thankfully, no one was seriously harmed, thanks to Michael, the kid hero who didn’t let his disability keep him from doing what is right.

“Many people look at people with disabilities like they are not able to do much, but Michael showed everyone just how untrue that is,” his mom Angie said. “We told him that he is our hero. If it wasn’t for him, we probably never would have woken up.”

A lot of people were deeply touched by Michael’s heroic act despite his condition. And surely, his efforts sparked inspiration from many, sending him donations so he can have a power wheelchair which can aid him to move around better, and easier.

Well deserved, Michael, well deserved!
