  • Ty Burningham is a 25-year-old special needs guy who goes around the neighborhood on his scooter.
  • Ty brings smiles to his neighbors with his happy disposition.
  • A group of teens decided to surprise him with a brand-new electric scooter for his birthday.

You would not think teens would strike up a friendship and think of what makes a special needs person happy, don’t you?

But these teens who just graduated from the Davis High School in Utah are pretty special, too!  That’s because they made Ty Burningham happy on his birthday!

They see Ty going around their neighborhood onboard a scooter and make everyone smile with his cheery personality.  He talks with everyone he meets and his neighbors think he spreads joy to all.  He is quite popular for bringing smiles to everyone’s faces and has become a friend to everyone in the neighborhood.

This is why, Maddie Weger and Hunter Garrett, along with their fellow graduates at the school, thought of making Ty’s 25th birthday to be the best ever. Seeing that Ty’s scooter has now become frayed, they each pooled in $10 to buy him a brand-new electric scooter!

Hunter said it would all be worth it as Ty’s “got that personality where it’s like, you see him, you just can’t not smile, you know? He just lights up a room everywhere he is.”

And as Maddie recalls, “He’s just so friendly to everyone. Like my mom met him in Bowman’s once, and he came over and talked to her for like 30 minutes.”

And when Ty got the gift, he could not help but say, “Aw, sweet!” and went speeding down the street, showing that sweet smile that he gives to everyone.

The gift made Ty so happy and seeing that huge grin on his face made the group’s effort worthwhile.

As one of the teens, Raef Thomas said, “It’s not that big, but Ty, we just love him.”

It certainly warms up the heart to know that these teens would go out of their way to make a special needs person feel loved.
