Did you know that there’s a Guinness World Record for “Most Followers on Instagram for a Cat”?
Well, one photogenic cat won the award for having over 4.3 million followers on the social media platform!
Meet Nala Cat, a Siamese-tabby mix that has won the hearts of millions. Take a look at some of her most adorable pictures, and get to know her along the way.
1. Nala was just 5 months old when she was adopted from an animal shelter by Varisiri “Pookie” Methachittiphan.
2. She now lives in Los Angeles, California with her owners, Pookie and Shannon Ellis.
3. Pookie said that it was her sister in Thailand who suggested creating an Instagram to showcase Nala’s cuteness.
4. Needless to say, it turned out to be a huge success!
5. The incredibly photogenic Nala loves treats, cardboard boxes, and anything that crinkles.
6. Nala can pull anything off, so Pookie loves dressing her up in costumes.
7. Shannon described Nala as “cute, sweet, funny, silly.”
8. Shannon also called her a famous but humble queen who “spreads happiness.”
9. It turns out that it was Nala that caused Shannon and Pookie’s first meeting!
10. She’s definitely a cute little “matchmaker.”
11. Thanks to Nala’s popularity and sponsored deals, Shannon and Pookie are able to promote pet education.
12. They stressed the importance of educating families, including kids, “about proper pet parenting.”
13. They added, “Sometimes I think that you share your heart and your home with someone, you change and you grow more when you adopt a rescue.”
14. Those who consider adoption could meet their future feline superstars in addition to providing them forever homes.
15. Shannon encouraged everyone to “do our part as a community” to help “save them all!”
Pookie had no idea that they would have a Guinness World Record holder at their own home. It just goes to show that you’ll never know what’s in store for you at the shelter.
Congratulations, Nala!
