Kal Blank, always on the lookout for interesting finds, picked up a shiny object in the Manchester, Missouri parking lot and soon realized it was a wedding ring—a priceless treasure he couldn’t have imagined.

The ring belonged to Mae Pratzel, who had just returned shopping carts after recent surgery left her jewelry loose. She and her husband, Alan, were devastated, as the ring featured the same diamond given nearly 50 years ago.

“It was one of the most awful feelings,” Mae shared.
